Mental Performance Training for Basketball Players

One missed free throw can’t become a bad fourth quarter. Basketball moves too fast for a player who carries a mistake into the next possession.

What this is

One-on-one mental performance coaching for basketball players ages 8–18 in Frisco and across North Texas. This is the mental side of the game — and only the mental side. Your team coach runs the offense and defense. Your skills trainer works on the jumper and the handles. Nobody is coaching the mind. That’s what this is.

Basketball exposes a player’s head every single possession. A turnover, a missed free throw, a couple of shots that don’t fall, foul trouble that puts them on the bench — and suddenly a talented kid stops shooting, stops driving, stops playing their game. That’s not a skills problem. That’s a confidence and reset problem. And it’s coachable.

What basketball players work on here

  • Free-throw pressure — a routine that holds up when the gym is loud and the game is close.
  • Shooting slumps — separating a cold stretch from a broken shot, and keeping the confidence to take the next one.
  • Turnover resets — give it away, get it back mentally before the next possession.
  • Foul trouble composure — staying aggressive and smart with fouls to give.
  • Fourth-quarter confidence — wanting the ball when the game is on the line.

How it works

Two tracks, six weeks each, all one-on-one. Track 1 puts Matt directly in your player’s corner: one private session a week, built around their position and what’s actually getting in their head. Track 2 puts him in yours — because half the mental game is won or lost in the car ride home. Take either one, or run both together.

  • Track 1 — 1-on-1 Athlete Mental Performance: $997 · 6 weeks · one private session a week · brief parent check-ins included
  • Track 2 — 1-on-1 Parent Coaching: $497 · 6 weeks · what to say (and not say) before and after games
  • Bundle — both tracks together: $1,297

The six weeks cover the Confidence Code, the Mistake Reset, Pre-Game Priming, Pressure as Fuel, the Self-Talk Makeover, and the Long Game — a competitor identity that holds. Spots are limited: it’s one-on-one, so when Matt’s calendar is full, it’s full.

Matt’s background is performance under pressure: trained one-on-one by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, a pro wrestling career that went as far as working with WWE, and years coaching young athletes in Frisco. Common questions

Is this skills training?

No. This is mental performance coaching only. Shooting form, handles, and conditioning stay with your team coach and skills trainers. Matt coaches confidence, focus, resets, and routines.

What ages and levels?

Athletes ages 8–18, from youth leagues through high school, in Frisco and across North Texas.

Do parents get coached too?

Yes — that’s Track 2. Half the mental game is the car ride home, and parents learn exactly what helps (and what hurts) before and after games.

Claim a spot

One-on-one means limited spots. Reach out, tell Matt about your player — age, team, position, and what’s getting in their head — and he’ll talk honestly about fit.
