Matt Young making his entrance at his retirement match — hood up, red star boots, arena lights behind him

Frisco, Texas · Speaker · Coach · Former Pro Wrestler

The comeback is the message

Matt Young lost everything he’d built — twice — and refused to stay down. Trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, a millionaire by 23, bankrupt by 26, rebuilt. That fight taught him the truth he now teaches: the mind-body connection is real, it’s powerful, and it decides what you get in everyday life. Now he takes that lesson to stages everywhere — companies, schools, churches, and athletes of every age and level, from young competitors to the pros, and the families behind them.

Speaking

Scar Tissue: What Falling Apart Taught Me About Getting Back Up

Matt’s signature keynote follows the real arc: a pro wrestling career that went as far as working with WWE, ended by injuries at 20, a million dollars made by 23 and lost by 26, bankruptcy — and a rebuild grounded in faith, discipline, and the science of how the mind and body work together under pressure.

It’s not motivational fluff. It’s a field manual from someone who has actually had to start over.

  • ✓
The mind–body connection, made practicalYears of study under Bob Proctor and Dr. Joe Dispenza, translated into tools a room can use the same day.
  • ✓
Identity after the lossWho are you when the title, the job, or the season is gone? The work of answering that honestly.
  • ✓
Pressure is informationThe body-first reset Matt teaches elite young athletes — and uses himself.
  • ✓
Purpose is a gift, not a mysteryA faith-driven case that everyone carries a God-given gift — and the scar tissue to prove it.

For schools and students

Scar Tissue for students doesn’t lecture them. It wakes them up. Students learn how to change their life for the better: take ownership of their gifts, and get the tools to create a life they are wanting. That means mental health awareness, the truth about how drugs can destroy lives, and how powerful each student really is — more so than they could ever believe, with science to back it up. And it means the environment: the people they surround themselves with shape their confidence, their choices, and their results. Choose wisely.

For companies and sales teams

Sales teams don’t need another pep talk. They need confidence that holds up under pressure. Matt starts where most training never goes: who are your people, really, and what are their true goals in life? Then he helps them focus on the gifts and strengths they already carry, and build their work around them. Clear people sell harder, lead stronger, and don’t fold when the month gets tough.

He brings tools, not just talk: the neuroscience and performance psychology he studied for years under Bob Proctor and Dr. Joe Dispenza, turned into practical routines for mindset, discipline, focus under pressure, and team leadership. And he speaks a sales floor’s language, from 12+ years as a sales manager and finance manager in the car business. For sales kickoffs, team training, and leadership sessions, Matt helps teams execute at a higher level — and stay there.

For churches and ministry

This isn’t a polished story. It’s a rescue story. A professional wrestler by 16, trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T and working with WWE by 18, Matt became a millionaire by 23 in the car business. Then, from 17 to 24, he was losing himself to drugs, leading to bankruptcy at 26. That is where he found Jesus, and why he was living the way that he was.

For Sunday services, men’s ministry, and young adult gatherings, he brings that testimony straight: failure, when owned, can become fuel, and purpose changes everything. People don’t just hear a comeback. They leave believing they already carry what it takes.

What to expect

Matt’s presentations are not motivational speeches — they are wake-up calls rooted in real life. By 16, he was a professional wrestler. By 23, he had reached millionaire success in the car business. By 26, he had lost it all. Now at 36, he stands on stage not as someone selling inspiration, but as someone who has earned perspective the hard way.

Expect raw honesty, sharp humor, and a message that cuts through comfort and excuses — and tools people can apply immediately, not theories alone.

His talks are engaging, thought-provoking, and intentionally uncomfortable in the best way — because growth lives there.

Expect laughter. Expect reflection. Expect moments that hit close to home. And expect to leave with clarity, focus, and a renewed sense of responsibility for your life and performance — results that show up long after the room empties.

Matt doesn’t speak at people — he connects with them.

From boardrooms to classrooms, locker rooms to leadership teams, Matt meets people exactly where they are and moves them forward. His life is proof that success without purpose is empty, and that failure, when owned, can become fuel.

His greatest strength isn’t motivation. It’s connection. Audiences don’t just leave inspired — they leave aligned, focused, and equipped to take responsibility for their lives and performance. Matt doesn’t aim for applause — he aims for change.

His story

Built, broken, rebuilt — twice

Everything Matt teaches, he has lived first. No theory. Just scar tissue. This is the short version.

2007–2012

The Ring

Trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, Matt wrestled professionally for about five years — going as far as working with WWE — until injuries and surgeries ended the run at age 20. The ring taught him pressure. Losing it taught him more.

The Car Business

Raised in it, rose in it

Matt grew up around the car business and spent 12+ years as a sales manager and finance manager. By 23 he had earned over a million dollars and bought a $250,000 home. He had arrived — or so he thought.

Age 26

Bankrupt

He lost all of it. The money, the house, the identity he’d built on both. Most speakers skip this chapter. His keynote is named for it.

Age 27

The Rebuild

Matt regained his footing through cryptocurrency — and through the deeper work of studying how the mind and body drive performance, under teachers Bob Proctor and Dr. Joe Dispenza.

Frisco, TX

Young Brothers Academy

With his brother Mike Young Jr., Matt co-ran a baseball academy in Frisco — hitting, pitching, fielding, and sports psychology. Their travel team won 7 of 9 tournaments and two league titles. Proof, not promises. That’s where coaching young athletes stopped being a side interest and became a calling.

July 2026

One Last Match

Fourteen years after leaving the ring, Matt wrestled one final retirement match — on his own terms — then left his boots in the center of the ring and said goodbye.

The Confident Athlete · One-on-one

Your kid has the talent. What they’re missing is the mental side.

You’ve seen it: one mistake — a dropped ball, a missed shot, a bad inning — and the rest of the game slips away. The team coach trains the skills. The private trainer trains the body. Nobody is coaching the mental side. The Confident Athlete does — one-on-one, with your athlete and with you. Mindset over talent. And that one-on-one work isn’t only for young athletes — Matt also works one-on-one with college and professional athletes on the same mental side of performance.

Why one-on-one?

Every kid is different. Group programs teach every kid the same way, on the same night, at the same pace — and hope it lands. This is personal. Matt was trained one-on-one by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T: no group class, no generic curriculum — a coach who saw exactly what he needed and worked on that. That’s the model The Confident Athlete is built on.

Two tracks, six weeks each. Track 1 puts Matt directly in your athlete’s corner, one private session a week. Track 2 puts him in yours — because half the mental game is won or lost in the car ride home. Take either one, or run both together.

Built for athletes ages 8–18 — from all sports — in Frisco and across North Texas, with the parents in their corner. Matt also works one-on-one with college and professional athletes — if that’s you, reach out directly and he’ll talk through what that work looks like.

How it works

✓  One private 60-minute session with Matt, every week
✓  Scheduled directly with Matt — no group calls, ever
✓  Brief parent check-ins included on the athlete track
✓  Direct access to Matt between sessions

Inside Track 1 — the six weeks

01

The Confidence Code

How confidence actually works — it’s a skill, not a trait. Your kid starts the Win Journal: a highlight reel of evidence that things go right for them. And it goes broader than confidence under pressure, mistake resets, and routines: it helps athletes take control of their lives and gives them the tools they need to truly blossom into the person they have been gifted to be.

02

The Mistake Reset

Why kids spiral after errors — and the 10-second reset routine (breath + anchor phrase + body cue) that brings them back mid-game.

03

Pre-Game Priming

Matt builds your kid’s personal 6-minute pre-game routine: body, visualization, identity. Pros don’t wait to feel ready.

04

Pressure as Fuel

Reframing nerves as readiness, with a body-first calming sequence. The rule from here on: pressure means you’re where you’re supposed to be.

05

Self-Talk Makeover

Catching the inner critic, naming it, and replacing it with a power phrase your kid chooses for themselves.

06

The Long Game

Building a competitor identity that survives slumps, bad calls, and the bench — an identity that holds when the game doesn’t.

The bundle · Both tracks

Put Matt in both corners

Run the athlete track and the parent track together, and the whole house works the same mental game — your kid gets a coach, you get coached, and nothing gets lost between the field and the front door.

  • All 12 private sessions — six for your athlete, six for you
  • Every session scheduled directly with Matt — no group calls
  • No money-back gimmicks: “If you show up, do the work, and it’s not clicking, I’ll work with you personally until it does.”

Questions parents ask

How does scheduling work?

There are no group calls and no fixed call night. Every session is private, one-on-one, and scheduled directly with Matt around your family’s calendar — school, practice, and games included.

How much time does this take each week?

One private 60-minute session a week. On the athlete track, your kid also gets short daily reps — 10–15 minutes — to build the week’s tool. On the parent track, the work lives in the moments you’re already in: the car ride home, the pre-game talk, game day itself.

What if my kid won’t buy into mindset work?

That’s exactly why it’s one-on-one with Matt and not a lecture from mom or dad. Sessions are built around your kid’s sport and what they’re actually dealing with — and Matt has sat where they’re sitting. Brief parent check-ins keep you in the loop on what’s being worked on.

My kid is 8 — too advanced? My kid is 18 — too basic?

The tracks are built for ages 8–18. The principles are the same; the delivery is personal. Because it’s one-on-one, Matt calibrates every session to your kid’s age, sport, and level — an 8-year-old’s session looks nothing like a 16-year-old’s.

Can we do both tracks?

Yes — that’s the bundle: $1,297 for both, instead of $1,494 bought separately. Your athlete gets six private sessions, you get six of your own, and both sides of the house work from the same playbook.

What if it doesn’t work for my kid?

Straight answer: this works if you work it. The tools are simple and evidence-based, but there are no money-back gimmicks here. The promise instead, in Matt’s words: “If you show up, do the work, and it’s not clicking, I’ll work with you personally until it does.” One-on-one means you’re never a number in a group — Matt knows your kid by name.

Is this therapy?

No. This is performance training — the mental side of competing. If your kid is dealing with something clinical, please work with a licensed professional. This program is for healthy, competitive kids who need a stronger mind for their sport.

What parents are saying

“Coach Matt is an absolute game-changer whose pure love for baseball shines through in every single practice. He doesn’t just teach the mechanics of the game; he possesses a rare gift for connecting with my son and building up his inner confidence. Under Coach Matt’s guidance, my son has completely transformed, trading self-doubt for a strong mental approach and an infectious enthusiasm for the sport. If you are looking for a mentor who will genuinely care about your child’s athletic development while nurturing their self-belief from the inside out, I cannot recommend Coach Matt highly enough.”

— Alex Garcia, baseball parent

“I coached against Matt’s teams for multiple seasons, and it was clear from my side of the field that his methods work and produce results. I observed that his teams played with confidence, and they performed well under pressure. I wanted those same attributes for my kids and knew I needed his help to get our kids to that level. Since that time he has worked one-on-one with my own children and several players on our teams. The results are unmistakable. Their player skill sets have certainly improved, and that has turned the tide in their on-the-field results. But more importantly to me, they have learned how to take command of their own performance, how to produce to their potential irrespective of the situation, how to persevere through adverse conditions, and how to recover from failure. These are values that will serve them well in any life endeavor. Youth sports is a laboratory for life lessons, and Matt Young is an experienced professor in the subject matter. Anyone would find tremendous value in the positive impact he has on their athlete.”

— Patrick Grouss, baseball and flag football parent

“We’ve had the pleasure of working with Matt one-on-one for the past few years, after he initially coached our son’s baseball team. Matt is the perfect balance of encouragement, knowledge, and accountability. He knows how to bring out the best in his athletes while holding them to high standards and helping them recognize their own potential. What truly sets Matt apart is that his coaching and influence extend far beyond the baseball field. His positive approach not only helps kids build confidence in their sport but also instills the fundamentals of hard work, discipline, resilience, and grit, qualities that will serve them in every area of life. We’re incredibly grateful for the impact Matt has had on our son, both as an athlete and as a young person. We couldn’t recommend him more highly!”

— Jennifer Burks, baseball parent

“Coach Matt Young has made an incredible difference in my son’s confidence, both as a soccer player and in his belief in himself. When we started working with Matt, my son was struggling with confidence, and it was affecting how he approached practices and games. Matt took time out of his personal schedule to work with my son, listen to him, and help him build that confidence. Through weekly conversations, goal setting, and face-to-face sessions, he gave my son consistent support and meaningful things to work toward. As a parent, I truly appreciate the time, patience, and personal attention Matt invested in him. The change has been remarkable. My son believes in himself more, and I can see the difference in how he practices and plays. Watching him step onto the field with greater confidence has meant so much to me. Soccer takes physical ability, but being able to trust yourself and your game makes such a difference. What stands out most about Coach Matt is how much he cares. He took the time to connect with my son and help him recognize what he is capable of. That kind of encouragement and guidance has been incredibly valuable to our family. I strongly recommend Coach Matt to any athlete, whether they are struggling with self-confidence or already performing well and want to continue growing. You don’t have to wait until you’re having a difficult season to invest in the mental side of your sport. Thank you, Coach Matt, for investing in my son and helping him believe in himself. We are truly grateful!”

Same questions, every room: sales floors, locker rooms, schools. Straight answers, no fluff.

Do you speak to sports teams?

Yes — teams are one of Matt’s core audiences. His keynote on the mind-body connection and mental performance translates directly to the locker room: confidence under pressure, mistake resets, pre-game priming, and owning your identity as a competitor. He works with youth, high school, and college programs — and with professional teams and individual pros — across North Texas and beyond. Same mind, same pressure, every level.

Do you work with sales teams and companies?

Yes. Matt spent 12+ years as a sales manager and finance manager in the car business — he knows the pressure of the number. His keynote helps sales teams execute at a higher level by training the mental side: focus, resilience after a lost deal, and performing when it counts.
